Reggae Boyz Return to Action as Speid Names 24-Man Squad for Nations League Opener

Jamaica faces Guatemala and Honduras in opening fixtures of the 2026-2027 Concacaf Nations League campaign.

Jamaica’s national football team is preparing for a fresh start in continental competition as Head Coach Rudolph Speid unveiled his squad for the opening rounds of the 2026-2027 Concacaf Nations League. The Reggae Boyz will begin their campaign at home, facing Guatemala on September 25 before welcoming Honduras four days later on September 29, both matches taking place in Group B of the preliminary round.

Speid’s 24-man roster marks the return of several established players who featured during the unsuccessful 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign. Among those recalled are goalkeeper and captain Andre Blake, wingers Leon Bailey and Tyreece Campbell, defender Richard King, midfielders Kasey Palmer and Karoy Anderson, and forward Renaldo Cephas. The squad also includes goalkeepers Shaquan Davis and Amal Knight, along with a mix of defenders, midfielders, and forwards drawn from both domestic and international club football.

The Nations League structure offers Jamaica a pathway to the tournament finals, where the top two teams from the preliminary groups will join Mexico, the USA, Canada, and Panama in the quarterfinals. Mexico enters as the two-time defending champions, setting a high standard for the competition. For the Reggae Boyz, success in these opening fixtures could prove crucial in establishing momentum and securing a place among the elite teams competing for regional supremacy.

The Concacaf Nations League is a biennial international football competition featuring teams from North and Central America and the Caribbean. The 2026-2027 edition follows Jamaica’s elimination from World Cup 2026 qualifying, marking an opportunity for the national team to compete at the highest level of regional football.

As Jamaica’s national football team, the Reggae Boyz represent Caribbean pride on the continental stage. Success in the Nations League provides the nation with a platform to compete against top-tier regional opponents and maintain its standing within Concacaf football.
