Clapham man to face cannabis trafficking charges in District Court

A 47-year-old is scheduled to appear before the District ‘A’ Criminal Court on Monday following the seizure of a substantial quantity of cannabis.

A 47-year-old Clapham man is set to make a court appearance on Monday as authorities move forward with cannabis-related charges stemming from a significant drug seizure. According to Barbados Today, Ishan Saquan Alleyne of Town House #8, Fordes Road, Clapham, Christ Church, will appear before the District ‘A’ Criminal Court to answer the charges.

The charges relate to the discovery of 47.5 kilogrammes of cannabis valued at $237,500, with the alleged offences occurring on September 11, 2026. Alleyne faces three charges: possession of cannabis, intent to supply, and trafficking.

The case represents part of ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking in Barbados. The quantity and value of the seized cannabis suggest a significant operation, and the multiple charges indicate authorities believe the drugs were intended for distribution rather than personal use.

Cannabis trafficking remains a persistent law enforcement concern in Barbados, with authorities regularly conducting operations to intercept drug shipments and arrest those involved in the illegal trade.

Drug trafficking and cannabis seizures are ongoing challenges across the Caribbean region, affecting public safety and law enforcement resources throughout the islands.
