Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay has issued guidance to the travelling public to account for potential delays caused by ongoing road construction work affecting access to the facility. According to the Jamaica Observer, MBJ Airports Limited, which operates the airport, is recommending that passengers allow extra time for their journey along the western and eastern roadway corridors where improvements are underway.

Sharon Hislop-Holt, Manager of Commercial Business Development and Marketing at MBJ Airports Limited, emphasized that the additional travel time is the most straightforward way to ensure smooth check-in experiences and on-time departures. She also encouraged passengers to verify their flight status with their airline and arrive within the check-in windows specified by their carrier.

Beyond individual travellers, the airport operator is asking the broader transport ecosystem—including hotels, tour operators, and ground transportation providers—to adjust their passenger pick-up and transfer schedules to accommodate the road works. The airport thanked the public for their patience as the respective entities and authorities complete the improvements.

Sangster International Airport serves as Jamaica’s primary international gateway in Montego Bay, St. James Parish, and handles significant passenger traffic from both domestic and international flights.

For Caribbean travellers and diaspora members flying through Jamaica’s busiest international airport, understanding these delays is essential for planning connections and avoiding missed flights during visits to the region.
