The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) has put to rest questions about Kingston College’s roster compliance, clearing the North Street institution of any quota rule violations following an allegation raised by Vauxhall High. According to Jamaica Observer, ISSA’s Competitions Department issued its findings on November 2, 2026, confirming that all four players identified in Vauxhall’s complaint were properly registered to Kingston College.
Vauxhall had challenged the eligibility of the four active players, arguing they should have been classified as quota players under ISSA regulations. However, ISSA’s review of its registration database determined that Kingston College was entitled to field all four athletes. The association noted that one player had begun representing KC in 2025 after joining the school’s sixth-form programme from a private institution, having previously been registered with an ISSA member school during the 2021-2022 academic year. That player’s non-quota designation was removed before his participation with Kingston College, based on the absence of evidence showing prior representation at another ISSA member school despite being listed in the database for over four years.
ISSA stated that its checks and balances would have provided the necessary clearance for all four players to participate. The association’s letter to Vauxhall’s principal affirmed that Kingston College "would be well within their rights to play all four players identified in the allegation." The ruling removes any eligibility cloud from Kingston College following the complaint and confirms the school did not breach quota regulations regarding the disputed players. The decision comes after Kingston College defeated Vauxhall High 3-1 in their opening Zone 3 Manning Cup match at Stadium East on October 31, 2026.
The ISSA Manning Cup is Jamaica’s premier inter-secondary schools football competition. Quota rules within ISSA regulate the number of players schools can register from outside their institution, with classifications determining eligibility and participation rights.
Kingston College and Vauxhall High are prominent Jamaican secondary schools, and the Manning Cup is a flagship competition in Caribbean secondary education sports. This ruling clarifies eligibility standards that affect competitive fairness in Jamaica’s most prestigious school football tournament.
