Jamaican Sprinter Demisha Roswell Dominates 100m Hurdles in Poland

National champion captures Continental Tour Silver meet in Chorzow with commanding performance.

Jamaican sprinter Demisha Roswell delivered a strong performance at the 72nd ORLEN Memoriał Janusza Kusocińskiego in Chorzow, Poland, capturing the 100m hurdles title at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet. According to Jamaica Observer, Roswell’s winning time of 12.83 seconds marked her third European victory in 2026.

The achievement comes just one week after Roswell competed at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest, Hungary, demonstrating her ability to perform at a high level across consecutive international competitions. Japan’s Yumi Tanaka finished second with a time of 12.94 seconds, while the Netherlands’ Maayke Tjin A-Lim rounded out the podium in third place with 12.97 seconds.

Roswell has established herself as Jamaica’s premier female hurdler this season. Earlier in the year, she captured the JAAA national senior championships for the first time, setting a personal best of 12.40 seconds in that victory. That mark currently stands as the fastest time by any Jamaican in the 100m hurdles event for 2026, cementing her position among the nation’s elite track and field athletes.

The ORLEN Memoriał Janusza Kusocińskiego is a prestigious World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet held annually in Chorzow, Poland, attracting elite international track and field competitors.

Roswell’s continued success on the European circuit represents a significant achievement for Jamaican athletics, reinforcing the nation’s strong tradition in sprinting and hurdles events at the international level.
